Become a Basketball Official

Officiating basketball typically requires 2-3 hours per game, including travel and pre-game preparation. Most officials work 1-3 games per week, with flexibility to choose assignments that fit their schedule.

Officials must be at least 18 years old. While prior playing or coaching experience is helpful, it's not required. We provide comprehensive training for all skill levels.

New basketball officials will need a whistle, black pants, and black officiating shoes. A striped shirt will be provided or can be purchased through the association at a discounted rate.

Yes, all officials undergo a mandatory background check to ensure the safety of student-athletes. We also provide training on game management and de-escalation techniques.

Assignments are made through an online system where you can block out dates and times you are unavailable. You'll receive game offers based on your availability and experience level, which you can accept or decline.
